Hope for Generations to come
This year House of Grace expanded its Youth at Risk programs to address the needs of a wider age range of youth, including those aged 18+ who find it difficult to continue their education or find a job. It has also created new possibilities for students to receive tutoring lessons. The Youth Empowerment Center has been freshly renovated and updated to better serve the needs of adolescents.
The various empowerment groups continue to be life changing for many young people. Morad (alias), 15 years old, says, "There is no way I can give up coming to House of Grace because House of Grace is what lifted me up in the most difficult times."
Morad has been a part of House of Grace for six years now. He is from a large family that struggles financially. His mother suffers from a chronic illness and his father works overtime to provide for the needs of the family. Morad continues:
From House of Grace I got a lot of things: it's enough that I got love and learned to give it back. I got a lot of responsibility which taught me to become responsible- which at home I didn't get. When I come to House of Grace, it's possible for me to give advice and say what's on my mind and heart, and it makes me feel better because at home with my family I don't have this kind of atmosphere. Everyone at home is off on their own, even though we are a family. I got from House of Grace compassion, love, guidance to be responsible, and how to treat others. That's why I will say again that House of Grace's programs are very important to me.
Because the number of participants in the Youth at risk programs has risen to 133 House of Grace has welcomed two new staff members to the team: Mrs. Rana Khoury, the Basket Ball Coach for the Girls Basketball team, and Mr. Fadi Masri, the coordinator and facilitator for the youth Volunteer Groups. Together with the other members of the Youth at Risk Project, they are helping to bring hope to the youth of Haifa for generations to come.
